Our sweet, precious mother went to her heavenly home on February 6, 2021. She has started her eternity with Jesus.
We will celebrate her life at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise with a graveside service at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 10, 2021 with Rev. James Kilpatrick officiating. Masks and social distancing are required. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alford was preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin Barber and James Alford; her brother, Foster Windham; sister, Elizabeth Kown; and great-grandson, Bear Bryant Jones.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Jones, AL; son, Ian MacLeod, NE; sister, Mary Evans, GA; 2 grandchildren, Jerry Jones, Level Plains, AL and Jason Jones (Andrea), Enterprise, AL; 9 great-grandchildren, Natalie Jones, Enterprise, AL, Malachi Mills, Elba, AL, Roman Jones, Enterprise, AL, Chelsea Jones, Level Plains, Bryant Jones, Level Plains, Noah Rigsby, Enterprise, Emma Rigsby, Enterprise, AL, Kade Jones, Enterprise, AL; 2 nieces, Sheila Cantrell, Cartersville, Ga, Patty Worley, Cartersville, GA; nephew, Mike Evans (Suzanne) Fayetteville, GA, and several of other nieces and nephews.
She was the youngest child born to Woodfin W. Windham and Mattie G. Hammack on April 1, 1932 in Daleville, AL. She lived most of her life there. She was a dental hygienist at Ft. Rucker for a couple of years after nursing school. She was a faithful employee with the US Postal Service and worked at Daleville and Ft. Rucker for 32-plus years and retired in 1996.
She was dedicated to her church where she sang in the choir, taught a ladies SS class for a number of years, was a deacon’s wife for a number of years and served in various other ways.
Her life was filled with service to others. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Cat Mom to her kitties, Oscar and Gracie. She was a wonderful friend to numerous elderly people which was where her heart was. Her loving, caring heart and her beautiful smile will be surely missed.
The family would like to thank Home Instead-Dothan and all the wonderful care she received the last 8-9 years. Her life was truly enhanced by the care she received. We would also like to thank Enterprise Health and Rehab for the care she received while there. She has had numerous special caregivers throughout these last years.
A special thank you to friends who have prayed with us, visited her and encouraged us through this journey.
