Mrs. Emily Butler Kapua, age 98, of Louisville peacefully passed away at her
residence on April 21,2023. There will be a visitation on April 28, 2023, from
1pm-2pm at Pea River Presbyterian Church with services to follow at 2:00 pm.
The Reverend Kenneth Earls will be officiating. Interment will immediately follow
in the Pea River Presbyterian Cemetery. The church and cemetery are located at
2950 Louisville Street, Clio, AL 36017.

Mrs. Kapua was born in New York on October 2, 1924, and spent her life as a wife,
mother, teacher, and educator. It was early in her life, when she was eight years
old, that she attended a Vacation Bible School at a Methodist Church for one
week. This one week made a lasting impression on her with one song, “This is my
Father’s World”. After being raised in a Catholic home, this song, and “In the
Garden” spoke to her soul as did many others in her lifetime. So much so that she
left a handwritten note for her family with her last request that these two songs
be sung at her funeral. A true lover of nature, these songs and her lessons of life
will be her legacy for future generations.

Left to remember Mrs. Kapua is her loving husband since November 20,1948,
Homer Kapua, Jr. of Louisville, AL, her son, David T. (Gwendolyn) Kapua of
Louisville, two Grandchildren Richard Kapua, and Amber (Ray) Perez and three
Great Grandchildren, Coral Gomez, Ray Perez, and Sumer Perez.
Mrs. Kapua was preceded in death by her son in 2022, Ronald Kapua, and her
parents, Albert and Tessie (Cross) Butler.
Keahey Funeral Home in Clio is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
