Ernestine Frazier Ellenburg, 87, of Dothan, AL, formerly of Elba, AL, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Westside Terrace Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, Sep 5, 2013 at 10 a.m., at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel, Elba, AL, with Rev. Tony Dye officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Garden cemetery, in Elba, AL, with Hayes Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., on Wednesday, Sep 4, 2013 at Hayes Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001, or to church of your choice.
Born in Opp, AL, on January 4, 1926, to the late James and Freddie Loretta Frazier, she was the youngest and last survivor of 19 siblings. In 1946, she married the “love of her life” Douglas Ellenburg, of Elba and there they made their home until his death in 1973. She was retired from Elba City Schools as the Cafeteria Manager. She remained in the family home until 1997, deciding to move to Baptist Village in Dothan, to be closer to her family. She loved her time at Baptist Village and made many friends - cooking and sewing for others for all occasions. In 2011, she decided to move to Westside Terrance, again enjoying the activities and friendships of many. She was a member of Mt Gilead Baptist Church in Dothan, AL. Affectionately known as “Granny,” or "Mrs. E,” or “Aunt Tine” or just “Tine,” she will be well remembered for her cakes, pies, and quilts.
Survivors include: Loretta Wilson (Rick), Wicksburg; Dwan Ellenburg (Gloria), Cowarts; and Greg Ellenburg (Marie), Dothan. Grandchildren: Jody Roberts (Tracy), Fayetteville, GA; Heather Millikin, Rhonda Williams, ; Robbin Grider, Dothan, AL; Wyatt, Nikki and Jeffrey Yancey, Dothan, AL. Five great-grandchildren, Devin, Katelyn and Ashlyn Roberts, Fayetteville, GA; Sam Millikin, Dothan; and Daina Manley, Austin, TX; and three great-great-grandchildren: Levi, McKenna, and Andrew Manley, Austin, TX; Sister-in-Law, Ruth Mack, Elba, and close friend, Jeanette McCollum, Westside Terrace, Dothan.
