DOTHAN. . .Ervel Sue Wilkinson Davidson, of Dothan, died Friday morning, July 27, 2018, at the UAB Hospital in Birmingham. She was 79.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at the Spring Hill Baptist Church, near Blue Springs, with Reverend Bob Cox and Reverend Tony Rosetta officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.
Ervel was born and raised in Blue Springs. She joined Spring Hill Church as a teenager and was later married in the church in 1970. She graduated as Valedictorian from Blue Springs High School, graduated Summa Cum Laude in Accounting from Troy University in 1964, and later received her M. B. A. from the University of Alabama. Ervel taught Business and Accounting at Wallace College for thirty-one years, where she was known for having the gift for presenting difficult material in an easy-to-understand format. She found great joy and satisfaction in enabling her student’s academic and professional success. Her greatest joy came from the love and quality time spent with her two grandsons. She was kind, generous, loved life, and treasured her family, friends and colleagues. Ervel was greatly loved by her family and will be sorely missed until we meet again. She is preceded in death by parents, James C. and Arie Reeder Wilkinson and her brother and sister-in-law, Howell Kneath and Elizabeth Carroll Wilkinson, all formerly of Blue Springs.
Surviving are her husband of forty-eight years, Lynwood Otto Davidson, Dothan; her two sons and daughters-in-law, David Lynn and Mary Amberly Davidson, Louisville, KY; and Kenneth Jererlynn and Beverly Ann Davidson, Atlanta, GA; and her two grandsons, David Jacob Davidson and Garrett Russell Davidson, both of Louisville, KY. Other surviving relatives include her niece, Kim Wilkinson and her husband, Drew Bennett, Dacula, GA; great-niece, Elizabeth Bennett Cause and her husband, Josh Causey, of Duluth, GA; and a great-nephew, Andrew Blake Bennett and wife, Erica Bennett, Lawrenceville, GA; and sisters-in-law, Reba Blackshear and Bonnie Odom, both of Mayo, FL.
