A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, March 5, 2023 for Ethel at Sunset Funeral Home (1700 Barrington Rd., Midland City, AL 36350). The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-3 pm.







Ethel Bell Ingram Crumbs, 92, of Dothan, Alabama passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2023. She was born in Crestview, Florida on October 29, 1930 and was the daughter of Minnie Pearl Huntley.


Ethel moved from Crestview Florida in the late 1950s with Madalyn and Larry Smith as a Nanny for their daughter Tami Smith and as their family grew, they adopted Thomas William Smith and Kimberly Alan Smith to whom she was a second Mother.


Ethel never had any biological children, but had many that she called her own including Grandmother to the three daughters of Kimberly Alan and Kathy Elizabeth Smith. Laura Elizabeth Smith (Melissa Smith), Ashley Smith King (Mike King), and Samantha Lee Fischer (John Fischer) as well as Great Grand Mother to Stella Brave Smith, Mary Elizabeth Smith, Brianne Hope King, Carson Michael King, Gabriel Owen Fischer, Lucas Aiden Fischer, Gunner Ned Grantham, Grayson Clifford Grantham, and Levi Wesson Drake.


Ethel is survived by her loving aunt, Margaret Marvin and is preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Pearl Huntley, her husband, Charlie Crumbs, her brother, Mr. Rudolph Ingram, and by her sister, Abbie Lee Jacobs.


Ethel was a faithful long-standing member of the North Highlands Baptist Church in Dothan Alabama and was very much involved in all aspects of the church. She served as an usher as well as instrumental in creating a morning prayer service and was faithful in her attendance. Ethel was also involved in Sunday School and BTU.


Ethel was a hard worker that loved her church, community and raising children. She was actively involved in the Wiregrass Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed her weekly fellowship with friends. She was loved by many because she loved so many.
