On Friday, November 13, 2015 another angel, Ethel Jolene Spann, went to heaven. She was 80.
Jo was a very loving, giving mom, grandmother and friend. She never met a stranger; didn’t know the meaning of hate; and her home was opened to anyone who wanted to come in. Her favorite past-time was Bingo and going to the Daleville Senior Citizen Center where she enjoyed making crafts and the many friends she met there.
Mrs. Spann was preceded in death by a son, Ellis E. Kelly and her two husbands, Donald Leroy Kelly, Sr. and Obed Spann; her brothers and sisters; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Daleville with Rev. James Kilpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in Daleville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time.
She leaves behind her seven surviving children, Donald L. Kelly Jr. (Cathy), James E. Kelly (Jan), Billie Jo Phillips, Dora Daniels (Jerry), Joann Harder (Mark), Richard V. Kelly (Susan) and John Kelly (Tina); her sisters, Cormae Steen (Charles), Joann Hall; 42 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her special friends, Bill Bumgardener, Ms. Kay and Ms. Gallo.
