Eugene Christopher Dold Jr.

A celebration of Jene’s life will be held at a later date at the Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama with close family and friends.

Eugene Christopher Dold Jr., known affectionately as Jene to his friends and family, passed away on November 30, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a passion for life that touched everyone he knew. Born on June 11, 1963, in Johnson City, New York, Jene spent his formative years moving across the country, ultimately finding his forever home and heart in Dothan with his beloved wife, Lori.

Jene's journey through life was marked by his deep love for his wife Lori Fulton Dold, whom he married on June 10, 2011, his devotion to his work, and his steadfast support for his stepson, Colin O'Leary Pool, whom he helped raise. He was the cherished son of his mother, Mildred “Millie” Joan Huntley, and predeceased by his father, Eugene “Jeno” Christopher Dold Sr., and sisters, Lisa Ann Wilson and Linda Marie Atwood. Jene's family circle included his stepbrother, Ike Huntley, and sisters-in-law Willie Pilant (Don, who passed in 2022), Kitty Adams (Larry), June Putman (Steve), and Lynn Bethany (Rick), who shared many precious memories. His bond with John Abney, widower of his late sister-in-law Sue Abney, was particularly special, forged in shared loss and friendship.

Jene was a proud graduate of Hart High School in California, and his education laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong career in the automotive industry. His work as a body shop automotive adjuster showcased his incredible work ethic, earning him the reputation of a workaholic with an unmatched dedication to his craft. Jene's professional journey included a tenure with AT&T as a lineman, but his true calling was always with cars. He was I-Car certified, and his time with Hewlett Chevrolet and Volkswagen in Georgetown, Texas, was a highlight of his career. Even after health challenges led him to become disabled, his passion for the automotive world never waned.

Jene's interests were as vivacious as his personality. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge when it came to auto repair, a testament to his love for fast motorcycles, fast cars, and rock and roll. A lifelong fan of NASCAR, he lived his dream of driving his own motorcycle on legendary tracks such as the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, and later achieved a bucket list item of driving a car on the Talladega Superspeedway in 2020. His outgoing nature, sharp wit, and big heart made him a joy to be around, as he was always ready to do the right thing, even in challenging times.

Loving, funny, and spirited are words that barely scratch the surface of describing Jene. He was a man who infused every moment with humor and zest for life. His presence was a source of joy and comfort to all who were lucky enough to know him. Jene leaves behind not only his human family but also his cherished Fur Bunny Babies, whom he adored with every fiber of his being. His special friend, Chai "Chi Chi" Latte, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, will miss his infectious spirit and boundless love.

Jene's life was a testament to the power of passion and the importance of family. His passing is a profound loss, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those he leaves behind. As we bid farewell to Eugene Christopher Dold, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of purpose, joy, and an everlasting impact on the hearts of many. Jene's journey through life may have come to an end, but his story will be told with love and laughter for generations to come.
