EULA FERRELL BUIE OWENS
COLUMBIA, ALABAMA. . .Eula Ferrell Buie Owens, a resident of Columbia, died Tuesday morning, January 17, 2012, at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. She was 86.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 19, 2012, in Columbia United Methodist Church, Dr. Walter Reeder officiating and a eulogy to be given by Ben Oakley. Burial will follow in the Columbia City Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P. M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Friends of Columbia”, P.O. Box 77, Columbia, AL. 36319.
Mrs. Owens was a lifelong resident of Columbia, daughter of the late Charlie Buie and Eula Ferrell Baker Buie. She was a graduate of Houston County High School in Columbia. Mrs. Owens retired as head cashier from the Bank of Columbia. She was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church and formerly served as treasurer of “Friends of Columbia”. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Scott Buie Snellgrove and three brothers, Raymond Buie, John Buie and Alvin Buie.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Charles Whitman Owens, Columbia; a son, Vann Scott Owens and wife, Laneyl Owens, Indian Springs, AL; two grandchildren, Bobby Cornelius and Claire Owens; a sister-in-law, Peggy Sykes and husband, Ray Sykes, Birmingham.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Art Solomon, Mike Culbreth, Jimmy Floyd, Hasting Sykes, Bobby Cornelius and Billy Solomon.
