NEWVILLE. . .Eva Pearl Thomas Williams, a resident of Newville, died Friday night, October 28, 2016, at her home. She was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 31, 2016, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Robert B. Parnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Mrs. Williams was born in Wetumpka, Alabama and was reared in Chilton County, Alabama, daughter of the late Leroy Thomas and Lillie Bell Edwards Thomas. She lived in Eight Mile, Alabama most of her lifetime before moving to the Old Center Community of Henry County in 1996. She was a member of the Creola Baptist Church, Creola, Alabama and attended the Union Springs Baptist Church, near Newville. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Williams, and two brothers, Eugene Thomas and Edsol Thomas.
Surviving relatives include four daughters, Wilma Parnell (Rev. Robert B.), Newville; Peggy Hollis (Winston), Paragould, Arkansas; Sallie Parnell (Lawrence), Liberty, MS and Sandra Wells (David), Paragould, Arkansas; two sons, Richard Williams (Judy), Warner Robins, GA; and Jackie Williams, Remlap, AL; three sisters, Joyce Davis, Moody, AL; Frances Thomas (Houston), Axis, AL; and Isabell Parker (Leslie), Moody, AL; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be grandsons-in-law.
