Evelyn Chavers Ganus, 94, of Andalusia, AL passed away Wednesday June 27, 2012 in Dothan, AL.

Graveside services will be 10 am Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Adellum Baptist Church Cemetery in Andalusia, AL with Pastors Ed Ganus and Randy Kelley officiating and Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family request no flowers but memorial donations may be made to Adellum Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 386, Andalusia, AL 36420.

Ms. Ganus was born October 27, 1917 in the Adellum Community. She grew up in Adellum but lived her adult life in Andalusia. She married James Elton Ganus in 1936. They celebrated 69 years of marriage at his death in 2005. She owned Evelyn’s Flowers in Andalusia for 36 years. She enjoyed flowers, people and life. She will be greatly missed by her family and numerous friends.

Ms. Ganus was preceded in death by her parents, Vallie Lee Hare Chavers and Henry Allen Chavers, her brothers, B.E. Chavers, Buddy Chavers, Mutt Chavers, Maurice Chavers, Guy Chavers, grandson Chris Still and great-grandson Holt Rowland.

Survivors include her children, J. Don (Barbara) Ganus, Blackshear, GA, Patricia (Joe) Whitehurst, Andalusia, AL and Cheryl (Ken) Still, Dothan, AL; brothers, Elon Chavers, Andalusia, AL, A.G. Chavers, Pensacola, FL, Bobby Chavers, Pace, FL and Henry Allan Chavers, Jr., Homer Chavers, Vernon Chavers all of Evergreen, AL; a sister Dottie Salter, Bowling Green, KY; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
