HEADLAND. . .Evelyn D. Hamm McDaniel, a former resident of Headland, died early Friday morning, September 18, 2020, in the Twin Magnolias Assisted Living in Abbeville. She was 96.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P. M. Saturday, September 19, 2020, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan, with Darden Kirby officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. Social distancing and masks will be observed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mrs. McDaniel was a native of Madison, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Bertrand Albert Hamm and Lillian Frances Hamm. She moved to Headland in 1989 where she was an active participant in the Burdeshaw-Solomon Senior Center and served as the Manager of the Opus Nostrum Dinner Theater. Mrs. McDaniel formerly served as a volunteer for the RSVP, Wiregrass Hospice (Kindred) and the Wiregrass Humane Society. In earlier years, she was employed by the U. S. Government as a Stenographer. Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her husband, James McDaniel, and a sister, Audrey Lois Hamm Forrer.
Surviving relatives include a step-son, Donald McDaniel, University Place, WA; a great-nephew, Paul Forrer, Valencia, CA; her adopted extended family, the Utz family of Headland.
