EVELYN ROBINSON WOOD
FT. GAINES, GEORGIA…Evelyn Robinson Wood of Ft. Gaines, Georgia, died Sunday evening, July 15, 2012. She was 93.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. CDT, Sunday, July 22, 2012 in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Martin Loyley officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. EDT, Monday, July 23, 2012 at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, Decatur, Georgia. A family burial will follow in Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, PO Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302 or to the United Methodist Children’s Home, 500 S. Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30030.
Mrs. Wood was born in Atlanta, daughter of the late Thomas Walter Robinson and Beulah Alma Chambers Robinson. She was a graduate of the North Avenue Presbyterian School and attended Oglethorpe College and Wesleyan College. She resided in Avondale Estates in DeKalb County, Georgia with her husband, Richard for over sixty years. Mrs. Wood was a member of the Belvedere United Methodist Church, a founding member of the Avon Garden Club, and a member of the Metro Ambassadors. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Richard Hudspeth Wood, a sister, Carolyn Robinson Estes and two brothers, Thomas Walter Robinson, Jr. and James LeRoy Robinson; a niece, Pauline Buffington and her husband, David Buffington.
Surviving relatives include a sister-in-law, Mishie Wood Killebrew, Ft. Gaines, Georgia; nieces, Amy Robinson Brown and husband, Terry; Besse Killebrew Mills and husband, Bill; nephew, Jimmy Robinson and wife, Marsha; several great nieces and great nephews and several great-great nieces and great- great nephews.
