NEWVILLE. . .Evie Lou Brackins Netherlands, a resident of Newville, died Friday morning, June 23, 2023, at her home. She was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, June 26, 2023, in the Tolbert Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Elliott and Reverend Mark Brantley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Monday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tolbert Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Charles Brackins, 175 McLain Street, Newville, AL 36353.
Mrs. Netherlands was a native of Haleburg and was reared near Headland and Columbus, Georgia. She moved to her home in Newville over thirty years ago. Mrs. Netherlands was a member of the Tolbert Baptist Church and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was formerly employed by WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville and also WestPoint Pepperell in Columbus, GA. Mrs. Netherlands was preceded in death by her father, Richard Filmore Brackins, her mother, Loufay Armstrong Jackson and two brothers, Bennie Brackins and James Harold Brackins.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Craig Martin Netherlands, a daughter, Donna Regino (Javier), Mt. Pleasant, Texas; a son, Francis Richard Ward (Peggy McDaniel), Prattville, AL; four brothers, Charles Brackins, Newville; Leon Jackson (Charlotte), Wetumpka, AL; Tommy Jackson (Debbie), Milton, FL; and Don Jackson (Bobbie Jean), Bakersfield, NC; grandchildren, Michael Shelley, Chris Shelley, Justin Ward and Marie Jones, great-grandchildren, Matthew Jones, Kristen Shelley and Kailee Shelley.
