HEADLAND. . .Faye Carr Snell, a resident of Headland, died Tuesday afternoon, October 9, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday, October 12, 2018, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church of Headland with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 P.M. in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church “Bridge To Tomorrow” Building Fund, 301 East Church Street, Headland, AL 36345 or to the Burdeshaw-Solomon Senior Center, 107 Boynton Street, Headland, AL 36345.
Mrs. Snell was born, reared, and lived in Headland, Alabama all her life. She was the daughter of the late William Roy Carr and Edith Davis Carr. She worked with WestPoint Pepperell and was in charge of the mail room until her retirement in 1993. She was known as “Queenie” to all her co-workers. Mrs. Snell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland and the Marilyn McClendon Sunday School Class. An active member of First Baptist Church for the past seventy years, she was recognized as the oldest continuous church member. Mrs. Snell was an active participant in the Burdeshaw-Solomon Senior Center where she loved to play dominoes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Snell.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Sharon Snell Green (Anthony), Headland; two sons, Ronnie Snell (Twila), Texasville, AL and Steve Snell (Patty McArdle), Headland; six grandchildren, Letitia Parramore (Mark), Brad Snell (Rene), Lauren Callendar (Rob), Jonathan Snell (Kristen), Blair Beard (Zach), Jamie Goodwin (Michael); two step-grandchildren, Brandie Willson (Aaron), and Brandon Atwood (Dawn); six great-grandchildren, Kelsie Spears (Joey), Thomas Marshall, Cameron Boyce (Bradley), Cayla Snell, Jace Beard and Mills Callender; three step-great-grandchildren, Elexis, Angel and Aryana; a great-great-granddaughter, Preslie Spears; many cousins who are like sisters to her and also her best friend, Jewell Taylor.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Anthony Green, Brad Snell, Jonathan Snell, Brandon Atwood, Don McClendon and Benton Beasley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Marilyn McClendon Sunday School Class and the Jack Bridges Sunday School Class.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Covenant Hospice for the loving care shown to Mrs. Snell and her family.
