Fleetwood “Woody” Chapman, Sr., 78, of Midland City, passed away Friday, November 29, 2019.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Corinth Free Will Baptist, 4466 County Road 61, Midland City, Alabama with Robert Byrd officiating. The family will receive visitors from 2:15-3:00pm at the church prior to the service.
Woody was born on April 29, 1941 to William Fleetwood and Geneva Chapman in West Virginia. He joined the US Army, and served his country for 29 years, both active and reserved, where he retired as a Master Sargent. During this time, he received his bachelor’s degree in business.
Woody is preceded in death by his father, William Fleetwood Chapman; his twin sister, Freda Hall; and 2 brothers, George and Bobby Chapman.
His survived by his wife, Jane Chapman of Midland City, AL; his 3 sons, Hugh (Helen) Chapman of Huntsville, AL, Fleetwood (Heather) Chapman of Bay Springs, AL, and Joe (Lisa) Chapman of Cowarts, AL; his 2 daughters, Neva (Chase) Wray of Midland City, AL, and Dee Dee (Nolin) Chapman of Midland City, AL; his mother, Geneva Chapman of Elkview, WV; his brother, Hugh Victor Chapman of Bartlett, IL; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; he also had a very special niece, Jean Ann Medley of Charlotte, TN; and his best friend, Jeffrey “Bo” Best.
