Foster Lanier Bond, known affectionately as Bo to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024, after an extended illness in Graceville, FL. Born on July 16, 1943 to J. D. and Ethel Mae Bond, in Dothan, Alabama.
Bo spent his entire life in the Bay Springs area, where he was born at home on Bay Springs Road. He graduated from Wicksburg High School in 1963.
After high school, Bo began a fulfilling career with GTE, where he worked for several years before his retirement in 1995.
His greatest joy was watching his grandchildren play sports. Many of his grandchildren’s friends knew him as “The Bubblegum Man”.
Bo was known for his strong will and stubborn nature, traits that served him well throughout his life and during his illness. His resilience was matched only by the affection he held for his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by his daughter, Debra Bond Adkinson; his three grandchildren, Colby (Taylor) Adkinson, Carley (Hunter) Hall, and Caitlyn Adkinson; his great grandson, Houston Adkinson; his two brothers, Doyle Bond and Lynn Bond; and several nieces and nephews.
Bo was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Billy Joe Bond and Johnny Ray Bond.
