Frances D. McGrady

Frances Delose McGrady passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Southeast Health surrounded by her family and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2pm on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 5pm-7pm.

Frances was born on November 5, 1974 in Dothan, AL to Christine Mizell and Willie Junior McGrady. She was a graduate of Dothan High School and later moved to Midland City, AL. Frances was a long time employee of Checker’s Restaurant with over 26 years of service. Frances was loving, caring, kindhearted and sweetest person you could ever meet. She could also be described as affable, considerate, generous and energetic. Frances had a heart of gold and was known for her warm smile that could brighten the room. She never met a stranger.

Known to give great hugs, Frances hated to see anyone sad, and she would routinely say, “Pick your head up, and the next time I see you I want to see a smile on your face!”. She left a big impact on family, friends and the various people she encountered while doing routine shopping.

Frances loved shopping, fishing, going to the beach, dressing up, cooking, watching movies, traveling and had a passion for snow. While she could be described as adventurous, Frances loved the quietness of simply sitting outside feeding birds or watching them enjoy the bird feeder.

She was preceded in death by, her father, Willie Junior McGrady; brothers, Milton Jones and Willie McGrady, Jr.; and nephew, Carlos Sanders.

Frances leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories; her children, Lorenzo McGrady and Sheree McGrady; grandchildren, Lorenzo McGrady, Jr., Rae’Lynn McGrady, Zaliyah McGrady, Jalani McGrady, Riley McGrady and J’ream McGrady; mother, Christine Mizell; sisters, Koffee Garlington, Lisa McGrady, LaKeisha Jones and Glory McGrady; brother, Lamar West; nieces and nephews, Kameria Garlington, Kameron Garlington, Kemia Garlington, Tyson Jones, Kristian Jones, Maliyah Jones, Makayce Jones, Gerald Jones, Jr., Rustina Ellerby, Dramesia Mack, Japorya Jones, Sharday Gilyard, Montoya Gilyard-Glover, Sameria McGrady and J’andra McGrady; and a host of extended family, friends and co-workers.
