Frances E. “Janet” Weatherly, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Extendicare Health and Rehab. She was 90 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Weatherly was born February 1, 1927 in Walnut Hill, FL. She lived the early part of her life in Century, FL prior to moving to Brewton, AL where she was a 1944 graduate of W.S. Neal High School. She was employed with Holley Hospital in Brewton in the late 1950’s and General Hospital in Dothan for over 20 years and retired from Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She had a special place in her heart for children, and nurtured children through her home fostering over 99 children throughout a 20-year span. She was a member of the Peanut Ramblers Coachman Campers Group and was of the Baptist Faith.
Mrs. Weatherly was preceded in death by her husband, Ira C. Weatherly, and her son, Tommy Bonner.
Survivors include her children, Wanda (Benny) Buchanan, Barbara (Keith) Folse, Jenell (Jerry) Williams, Bobby (Sophie) Odom, Frankie (Jill) Stone, Inez Armstrong, and Joann Roudebush; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Buchanan, Shelby Williams, Shane Williams, T.J. Bonner, Alen Henderson, Roger Dale Sasser, Bobby Odom, and Joe Clopton.
