FRANCES ELAINE WALKER
ABBEVILLE…Frances Elaine Walker, a resident of Ward Drive, Abbeville, died Friday morning, October 19, 2012 at her home. She was 79.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 21, 2012 in the Shiloh Word Fellowship, near Clopton with Rev. James E. Ward, Jr. and Rev. James E. Ward, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Word Fellowship, 3592 Hwy. 10, Clio, AL 36017 or to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
Mrs. Walker, daughter of the late Lury Dorman Walker and Lillian Lucille Smith Walker, was a native of Barbour County near Clopton where she lived most of her lifetime before moving to Abbeville in 1995. She was a 1951 graduate of Blue Springs High School and was retired from Brundidge Shirt Corporation. Mrs. Walker, a devout longtime Christian, was a founding active member of Shiloh Word Fellowship . She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ralph Walker.
Surviving relatives include her loving companion, Harold Herbert Bennett, Abbeville; two daughters, Colura Walker, Athens, GA and Dawn Walker, Eatonton, GA; step-children, Jeff Bennett and wife, Tiffany, Conroe, TX and Michelle Smith and husband, Glen, Albuquerque, NM; a sister, Shirley Ann McGehee and husband, Thomas, Montgomery; a brother, Charles L. Walker, Dothan; a sister-in-law, Betty Jean Walker, Blue Springs; her granddaughter, Natalia Phillips Russaw; her grandson, Walker Whiddon; a great-granddaughter, Kendyl Frances Russaw; special friend, Daisy Daniels; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Chris Walker, Ben Day, Jonathan Smith, Wiley Smith, H.C. Gulledge and Jehu Frost. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Walker and Tom McGehee.
The family would like to thank Covenant Hospice for their loving care given to Mrs. Walker and her family during her illness.
