DOTHAN. . .Frances McKenzie McArdle, a resident of Dothan, died peacefully Sunday, January 29, 2017, in the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 85.


            Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2017, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan, with Reverend Dalton Molloy officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.


            Frances McArdle was born in Brundidge, Alabama, daughter of the late Louis McKenzie and Johnnie Mae Emfinger McKenzie. She lived in Dothan most of her lifetime where she was a member of the Eastside Free Will Baptist Church. Frances was formerly employed by the Dothan City School System in the Foster Grandparent  program. She loved to sew, crochet, embroidery, knit, and helping other ladies sew quilts and other items for those in need. Frances was preceded in death by a sister, Eulalia Miller,  three brothers, James, Don and Emmett McKenzie, and a son-in-law, Bill Lawhon, and the father of her children, Nathaniel “Buck” McArdle.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Beverly Sanders (Charles); and Dianne Lawhon, all of Dothan; a son, Terry McArdle (Wanda), Slocomb; two grandchildren, April Sanders and Brian Sanders (Brittany); two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Macie Sanders; three sisters, Evelyn Brookins, Martha Marshall and Faye Bullard; three brothers, Therral McKenzie, Floyd McKenzie and Dennis McKenzie.
