NAPIER FIELD. . .Frances Meek Woodham, a resident of Napier Field, Alabama, died Tuesday afternoon, January 3, 2023, in the Graceville Health Center. She was 97.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 8, 2023, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Mike Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Headland.
Mrs. Woodham was born and reared in Montgomery, daughter of the late George Asher Meek and Mary Elsie Taylor Meek. She moved to Napier Field in 1946. Mrs. Woodham was a member of the Napier Baptist Church and attended Midland City Baptist Church. A homemaker all her lifetime, she also assisted her husband in the operation of Woodham Construction Company. Mrs. Woodham was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan and loved collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy T. Woodham, four sisters, Doris Beasley, Mary Johnson, Nellie Watford and Abbie Mundie, three brothers, Jack Meek, Elmer Meek and Hubert Meek, and a son-in-law, Graham McKnight.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Linda Woodham McKnight, Midland City; two sons, James Talmadge Woodham (Sharon), Mt. Zion, Illinois; and Roy Asher Woodham (Deborah), Midland City; grandchildren, Buddy McKnight (Lisa), Rodney McKnight, Melissa McKnight Bryans, Amy Carter (Chris), Becky McAuley (Russell), Mark Woodham (Holly) and Lori Woodham; ten great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Mark Woodham, Rodney McKnight, Buddy McKnight, Chris Carter, Russ McAuley and Nathan Flippo.
