Frances Parker Mangrum, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 97 years old.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Westgate Church of Christ. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Westgate Church of Christ, 617 Westgate Parkway, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
Mrs. Mangrum was born December 11, 1919 in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. She lived the earlier years of her life in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Mrs. Mangrum traveled with her husband during his military career, living in various parts of the United States and Germany. When he retired they settled in Dothan, Alabama in the early 1960’s. She was manager with Ted’s Jewelry in the silver and jewelry department, she managed the S&H Green Stamps store, and she and her husband owned and operated one of Dothan’s first answering service companies. Her hobbies were cooking and crafts. Mrs. Mangrum was a member of Westgate Church of Christ, a member of Fort Rucker’s Officer Wives Club, and various other social clubs.
Mrs. Mangrum is proceeded in death by her husband, Alton J. Mangrum and her son, William Arthur Mangrum.
Survivors include her son, Robert Alton Mangrum; her daughter, Barbara Carmichael Teele; her 4 grandchildren, Mark (Summer) Carmichael, Leigh (Dominic) Johnson, Bonnie Perrino, Chad Mangrum; and daughter-in-law, Grace Mangrum; and her 8 great-grandchildren.
