Frances Bondy, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015. She was 88.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in St. Columba Catholic Church Chapel with Monsignor Patrick Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Panama City, Florida with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at St. Columba on Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGeehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36111.
Franziska Weiss Bondy was born on October 21, 1927 in Wasserburg, Germany and lived there the early years of her life. She moved to the United States in 1952 and resided in Panama City from 1963 until 1970. Mrs. Bondy, along with her husband, the late Fred Bondy, moved to Dothan and purchased Malone Motor Company. Relocating the business to the Ross Clark Circle, they opened what is now, Bondy’s Ford Motor Company. She has been involved with the family business for over 40 years and was serving as President. Mrs. Bondy served as past President of the Houston County Heart Association, the Panama City Kiwanians Club, she was a member of the Wiregrass Humane Society, the Zonta Club, and the German Club.
Mrs. Bondy was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Bondy, her siblings, Betty Vogel, Ali Weiss, and Rudy Weiss.
Survivors include her daughter, Renate (David) Marshall; her 2 grandchildren, Lisa Powell and Fred (Mary Beth) Marshall; her 5 great grandchildren, Caroline Powell, Marshall Powell, David Marshall, Jr., Drew Marshall, and Mary Warren Marshall; her sister, Magda Christ; her nieces and nephews, Gudrun Schatz, Inge Fech, Bernhard Christ, and Jochen Vogel.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Wallace Malone, Jr., Dr. Bill Hanson, Bill Lee, Buzz Leonard, Jim Peach, and Bill Pergolini.
