Frances Woodham Smith
Frances Woodham Smith, age 88 a longtime resident of the Dothan area died Monday afternoon October 29, 2018 at her home after an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday November 1, 2018 in the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with the Rev. Coley M. Holloway and Rev. Danny Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Gilead Church Cemetery with Family First Funeral & Cremation Care directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until service time in the sanctuary Thursday.
Mrs. Smith was born in Geneva County daughter of the late Ford Woodham and Qullie Thames Woodham. Frances married Ralph Smith in the early 1950’s and she had several different jobs in those early years of marriage. She gladly gave up working outside her home for the opportunity of being a fulltime mother, a job which she was born to do. She raised her two sons, took care of her husband and loved her grandson Jordan. Frances was a very talented artist and taught many youngsters in her art studio located next to her home. On many occasions she was commissioned by art lovers and several of her pieces adorn homes and businesses in our area today. She was an active member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and started the Keenagers group there. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her 3 brothers Jessie Woodham, Franklin Woodham and Edward Woodham.
Survivors include her husband Ralph Smith, 2 sons Barry Smith, Kyle Smith and his girlfriend Spring Woodruff all of Dothan, a brother John Doyle (Sara) Woodham of Dothan, 2 sisters-in-law Frances Woodham and Jeanette Flower of Dothan, her grandson Jordan Tyler Smith of San Francisco, Ca, several nieces and nephews and Josh Woodruff and Christian Townsend.
