Francis Jane Godwin, 78, of Dothan passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at a local hospital.
Memorial services will be 10 am Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Rogers officiating. The body will lay in state from 9am to 4 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Harvest Church.
Ms. Godwin was born October 17, 1935 in Midland City, AL and spent the early part of her life there. She was a military wife and lived all over the U.S. and the world. Prior to moving back to Dothan in the late 90's where she was an active member of Harvest Church, she spent many years in Huntsville, AL where she owned and operated Turtle Bay Properties. She was an ordained minister and was active with Missionary Work. She was a member of the Eastern Star, connected with the Masons, and a Lady Shriner, holding various offices including High Priestess and Worthy Matron. She was also a Chief of the Southeast Alabama Cherokee Tribe. Ms. Godwin was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mamie Faulkner; 3 brothers, a sister, a grandson, a great-granddaughter, and a great-great-granddaughter.
Survivors include her children, Russell (Monica) Godwin of Rineyville, KY, Hawk Godwin of Dothan, Patricia Jane Hagler of Duncan, OK, and Brenda Montgomery-Wright of Dothan; 23 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Laura Faulkner of Enterprise; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
