Francis Knight Vann, age 78, left her home in Dothan on February 7, 2014 to go to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.


 


Born April 28, 1935 in Dale County to the late Joseph H. and Lenora Archer Knight, Mrs. Vann was a founding and faithful member of His Love Church. Mrs. Vann also served on the advisory board to the Pastor. She retired from Dothan City Schools and was greatly loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and her church family.


 


In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vann was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William Edward Vann; her step-mother, Ellen Mae Cordell Knight; her granddaughter, Ashley Wood; her brothers, Joseph M. Knight, Charles E. Knight, David L. Knight, Louie Finley, and her twin brother, Franklin N. Knight.


 


Survivors include her son, Rev. Ronald E. (Deborah) Vann; her daughter, Sylvia Belinda Wood; six grandchildren, Jeania Johnson, Marsha Hill, Melissa Johnson, Ronda Franklin, Joe Vann, and Jessica Gracia; ten great-grandchildren, Kaila Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Daishae Jackson, Marshaya Hill, Allissa Grace Johnson, Micah Vann, Charity Franklin, Fernando Gracia, Sandra Gracia, and Keshaun Franklin; one brother, Lloyd Knight; two sister-in-laws, Miriam Knight and Verda Knight; a double first cousin, Jacqueline Coker and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


 


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 10 AM from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ronald Vann officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 10, 2014 from 6 until 8 PM.


 


Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Brandyberry, Bruce Fulford, Gary Grayson, Kerry Laseter, David Smith, and Joe Vann. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.


 


The family is thankful to the CCU staffs of SAMC and Noland Hospital and the doctors who ministered to Mrs. Vann.
