Frank Giles Buie, loving father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 30, 2024. He was 94 years old.

Born on July 14, 1929, to Roy & Gladys Buie, Mr. Buie has lived in Houston County all of his life. Mr. Buie was a hardworking, generous man who took care of his family. At the beginning of his working career, he owned and operated Tri-State Salvage Company in Webb. Throughout his life, he built many houses in his “spare time.” Mr. Buie could fix anything and was willing to help his family and friends with any project. In the late 1960’s, Mr. Buie started selling rugs out of his home, and this was the start of the Carpet Discount Barn which had 2 locations- one in Dothan and one in Montgomery. Mr. Buie enjoyed spending time with his family, cheering for Alabama, and was always up for a card game with anyone who would deal the cards. He loved sweets- especially a bowl of homemade ice cream! Mr. Buie loved the Lord and the church and was a founding member of Grace Bible Church and supported several missionaries financially and by visiting to encourage the ministry or help with a building project. He founded Faith Christian Missions as a help to some of his favorite missionary couples. He will be remembered for his generosity and love for the Lord and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Buie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Ruth Johnson Buie; his parents; his son, Frank Giles Buie, Jr.; and his great granddaughter, Sophie Zimmerman.

Loving survivors include his three daughters, Tonja Summerlin, Sonja Sanders (Grevlyn), and Nila Johnson (Danny); his six grandchildren, Chad Green (Brandi), Nick Green, Tiffany Button (Jason), Bethany Wood (Darrell), Marcey Zimmerman (Shawn), and Hunter Johnson (Karie); his 16 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
