Frankie Dee Dykes of Slocomb passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016. He was 84.
Mr. Dykes was born March 26, 1932 in Slocomb to the late Jimmy and Vera Mae Dunnaway Dykes. Frank served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Mack Electric in Dothan for 20 years then worked at Dykes Restaurant Supply in Huntsville for over 20 years. He was a member of the Masons, Scottish Rites, and Shriners. Frank was a Baptist. He loved to farm and raised registered Black Angus cattle. He raised a garden and shared his crops with everyone. He loved life and the great outdoors. He enjoyed his work. He had great values, integrity and strived to be the most hard working man for his family. He was loved by so many and will be sorely missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Baxley of Dothan.
Frank is survived by his wife, Cheryl Dodson Dykes, Slocomb; his daughters, DeLaura Dykes Press (Fred) Press, Terrell, TX and DiAnna Dykes Nix, Denison, TX; his brothers, Cleveland Dykes, Decatur, AL and Charles David Dykes (Amy), Bonifay, FL; his grandchildren, Brandy Press Smith (Nathan), Dallas, TX, Tasha Manning, Dallas, TX, Lauren Manning, Dallas, TX, Samuel Dykes, Denison, TX, Israel Nix, Denison, TX; great-grandson Hendrix Horn, his step-children, Richard Rowe, Huntsville, AL, Steve Rowe (Cheryl), Madison, AL, Jeff Rowe (Soo), Redondo Beach, CA; his step-grandchildren, Stephen and Jessica Rowe, Madison, AL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lee Chorn officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM, Thursday, August 4, 2016 one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive flowers or contributions may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.
