Franklin Jackson Smith, 72, formally of Dothan, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in Gulf Coast Medical Center.


Funeral services will be held 2 pm Friday in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6pm-8pm Thursday.


Mr. Smith was born November 7, 1939 in Houston County and he resided the early years in Columbia. Mr. Smith lived in Dothan most of his life and he was employed with City of Dothan and Smith Brothers Construction Company. He loved to listen to country music. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his brother, James Earl Worrell.


Survivors include two sons, William T. (Lisa) Smith, Pansey, Frankie Farrell Smith, Dothan; his daughter, Mary Ann (Joseph J. Collins) Burge, Dothan; three grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Josh Kolonusz, Dylan Smith; his brother, Jimmy Ray Smith, Dothan; several nieces and nephews.
