FRED M. MCCOY
NEWVILLE.… Fred M. McCoy, a resident of Newville, passed away Sunday evening, March 22, 2020. He was 84.
Due to the Covid-19 epidemic and according to State of Alabama Department of Public Health mandate of no more than 25 people at a gathering, the memorial service with military rites for Mr. Fred M. McCoy, will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions to be made to the Newville Baptist Church Building Fund; P.O. Box 13 Newville, Alabama 36353.
Mr. McCoy was born in Newville, Alabama to the late Okay McCoy and Robbie Lee White McCoy. He graduated from Newville High School. He joined the United States Air Force shortly after graduating high school, where he was stationed several locations in the United States and over seas. After retirement from the Air Force, he came home and attended Wallace Community College where he received an associates degree. He taught and retired as a vocational electrical instructor with the Henry County Board of Education .
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Anita Dawn McCoy; his brothers, Bobby McCoy and Larry McCoy.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his sons, Rodney McCoy (Pam) of Dothan, and Mike McCoy (Wendy) of Newville; his sister, Shirley Hand (Jackie); his brother, Tommy McCoy (Rosa) of Abbeville; his grandsons Jason McCoy (Tiffany) of Dothan, Justin McCoy (Jennifer) of Newville, his granddaughter, Jessica Blount (Kyle) of Abbeville; his great-grandson, Hudson McCoy of Dothan, and his soon to be great-granddaughter, Sydney Grace Blount; and several nieces and nephews.
