Fred Stewart

Freddie B was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary Stewart, for a blessed forty-eight years. Together, they nurtured a family of strong roots and wide branches, including their cherished children: Yuri Tymon Stewart and his wife Keianna, Tanya Zsa-Zsa Stewart, Carolyn Stewart Duncan and her husband Reginald, and Shondra Vinyette Stewart. His legacy continues to flourish through his adored grandchildren Konshela Hayes and her husband Robert, Renaldo Maiden, Jr. and his wife Taretha, Christopher Croruth, Timara Prescott, Jerry Gates, Solomon Seaborn, Raven Jackson, Kallie Grace Stewart, Kameron Dawsey, and Christian Peterson, as well as his five precious great-grandchildren. His God Children, Jerome Ford, Alexander Leroy, Charita Baker, Adia Tyree. Special friends, Larry and Jewnita Clark, Sylvester Whiters, Wilson Daniels, and Van Mitchell.

Freddie B was the proud brother of Willie Earl Stewart, Alfred Stewart, Stanley Stewart, Nathaniel Greenleaf, Marie Vesey, Dorothy Vesey, Betty Greenleaf, Della Mae Washington, and Rotanza Thompson. He was a loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, their lives richer for his presence. Though preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary Stewart, the seeds of kindness they planted in him grew into a mighty tree of generosity that shaded many.

A man of honor and courage, Freddie B served our nation with distinction in the Marine Corps for three years and continued his commitment to service in the National Guard for an impressive thirty-one years. His dedication took him to the Panama Canal Zone and Okinawa, Japan, where he stood guard over our freedoms with unwavering resolve. Upon returning home, he protected his Carines Airfield as a firefighter at Noveselle Unit 2 until his retirement in 2006.

A faithful servant of the Lord, Freddie B was a pillar of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. His devotion was evident as he attended Sunday school and church. He was known for sharing God’s word with family and friends through daily messages, and Baptist training union with a heart open to God's word. He lived his faith through acts of kindness, ever ready to extend a hand or give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Freddie B's culinary talents, particularly his sweet potatoes and BBQ, were legendary, and he relished in cooking for his family.

His interests were as selfless as his spirit; Freddie B found joy in helping others and in simple pleasures like cleaning cars for his family. Known as superman and a hero to those closest to him, he embodied humility and strength in equal measure.

On the 13th of December, 1952, Billy Joe was united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, Ouida Marie Battle Bond, and together they journeyed through 68 years of wedded bliss.

Freddie B's life was a testament to the virtues of love, kindness, and selflessness. These words are not merely descriptors but the very essence of a man whose capacity for love knew no bounds. He walked this earth as a man of God, his spirit now soaring high above, even as we feel the absence of his earthly presence.

Brothers and sisters, let us take comfort in knowing that Freddie B's journey has not ended but transformed. As we bid farewell to this noble soul, let us honor his memory by emulating his kindness, his generous spirit, and his unwavering faith. Freddie B Stewart, a beacon of light and love, has found his way home. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may we carry forward the legacy of this extraordinary man in our own lives. Amen.

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home.
