Frederick Edward Anton “Tony” Schilling III, 88, a resident of Dothan, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021 at his residence.
Private memorial services will be held for the family at a later date.
Mr. Schilling was born February 7, 1933 in Marietta, Georgia to Frederick Edward Anton Schilling, Jr. and Kate Louise Barker Schilling and lived the early years of his life there. Tony was the great grandson of F.E.A. Schilling the founder of Schilling Hardware on the square in Marietta.
He was a graduate of Georgia Tech University and served in the U.S. Navy for two years. He was employed as an electrical engineer primarily in the space industry in communications satellites all his working life. Having a grandfather who was a train engineer, Mr. Schilling developed a love of trains at an early age and enjoyed taking trips on trains. He also loved reading and enjoyed studying the Bible.
He is predeceased by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jerri P. Schilling of Dothan, AL; two sons, Frederick Edward Anton Schilling IV of Moultrie, GA, and William Timothy Schilling (Lisa) of Irvine, CA; four grandchildren, Liam Schilling, Laura Schilling, Sarah Schilling and Jessica Leach.
