Gabriel Raynaldo Johnson

Gabriel Raynaldo Johnson passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022. He was 34 years old.

A celebration of life will be held 11:30 am on Friday, July 22, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Harvey officiating. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery, Cowarts AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Gabriel was born on October 22, 1987 in Houston County, AL. He was a graduate of Dothan High School, Class of 2006. Gabriel’s mother took him to Eastgate park when he was little boy to teach him how to fish. She prayed that he would finally catch one after hours so they could finally leave. He developed a love for fishing, hunting small game and the Outdoors. He loved to cook up the wild game and try to get his mother to taste it. He spent a lot of time at neighbor Aubrey’s ponds and talking with the guys. He did a wonderful job raising roosters and chickens as well. Gabriel was a loving, caring, energetic and popular man who always thought of others. He loved his mother and family hard and dearly. He had an astounding number of friends from all walks of life all over the Tri-State. He was never a stranger and helped people in any way he could. He had a big, beautiful smile and a big, beautiful heart.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ray Charles Johnson; his uncles, Clifford Helms and Jerry Walker; and “Big Daddy” Hubert John Davis, Sr.

Gabriel leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Mary D. Johnson; his siblings, Meshae “Shae” Helms Richardson (Michael), Nicklaus Helms (Iris), LaKendrick Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Shawanda Whatley, Vertrica Hill and Willie James; his aunts and uncles, Mary Walker, Larry Walker, Early Walker, Charlie James Walker (Hazel), May Walker, and Jacqueline Walker; Special friends, “Big Mama” Willie Mae Davis, Pastor, James and Barbra Harvey, Patty and Lowell Way, A host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
