Gary Austin Roberts joined his Lord and Savior on Dec 12, 2016. Austin was born in Enterprise, AL on September 26, 1975.
A lifelong fan of Alabama football, Austin is survived by his wife Sandra Baculi Roberts, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; mother Linda Delashaw (Jim), Enterprise, AL; his father Gary Roberts (Barbara), Freeport, FL; and his son Gary A. “Deuce” Roberts II, Douglasville, GA. He is also survived by his step-sisters Natalie Alvarez (David), Odessa, TX and Lori Delashaw, Homewood, AL; his step-brother Jason Patrick, Freeport, FL; his uncles Britt Roberts, Deatsville, AL; Roger Roberts, Austin, TX; his aunt Flo McKinney (Johnny), New Brockton, AL. Austin has numerous cousins and a multitude of worldwide friends who shall miss his quick smile, firm handshake, and caring ways.
He was known as a good friend who would give you the shirt off his back. Austin loved helicopters and working on them, which lead to a long career as an aircraft mechanic both at Ft Rucker, AL and in Saudi Arabia.
As a young man working with his family moving and storage business, he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. He was active in coaching youth baseball and loved working with children. His job in Saudi Arabia helped him discover the joys of traveling to new and exciting places, and learning about other cultures. Austin’s interests included golfing, hunting and fishing, and teaching his son Deuce about these activities and life in general. He was a devoted father to his son, a loving husband to his wife, a loving member of his family, and will be dearly missed by all who loved him and knew him.
Funeral services will be conducted by Searcy Funeral Home, Enterprise, AL on Friday, December 23, 2016 with Dr. Ben Bowden officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 at the funeral home chapel with memorial service at 2:00 P.M. and interment at Meadowlawn Memorial Park in Enterprise, next to his beloved grandfather Gundy Roberts and grandmother Mimi. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to American Heart Association, or Wounded Warriors.
