Gayfrey Stanford, 62 a resident of Ozark passed away Friday January 2, 2015 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Monday, January 5, 2015 at Chalkhead Baptist Church with Rev. Benji Johnson and Rev. Tommy West officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home Sunday from 5 pm until 7pm. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Chalkhead Baptist Church, 495 County Road 35, Ozark, AL 36360.

Gayfrey was born June 30, 1952 in Pinckard and he resided the early years of his life in Midland City. He was a 1971 graduate of Dale County High School and he joined the United States Air Force and served four years of active duty. Gayfrey was employed with Alabama Electric for several years and later worked with Scarborough Associates for 25 years. At the time of his medical retirement in 2010 he was employed with AFS at Fort Rucker. Gayfrey was a member of Chalkhead Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. Gayfrey was preceded in death by his parents J.B. Stanford, Sr. and Elizabeth Stanford, his brothers, Gerald Stanford and Johnny Wayne Stanford.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Diane Stanford; his daughter, April Parker; two grandchildren, Gavin Goss and Hayden Parker; his brothers, Max D. Stanford, Billy Stanford and J.B. Stanford; his sister, Jane Weaver; several nieces and nephews.
