SHORTERVILLE. . .Genara Hartley Fleming, a resident of Shorterville, died Monday morning, July 24, 2023, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility. She was 89.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in the Old Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Matthew Quincey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Old Zion Baptist Church, c/o John R. Starling, 480 County Road 36, Shorterville, AL 36373.
Mrs. Fleming was born and reared in Headland, daughter of the late Lloyd Hartley and Marie Stokes Hartley. She lived in the Sandy Bottom community of Henry County most of her lifetime. Mrs. Fleming was a member of the Old Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Fleming.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Dell Marie McPherson (Joel), two sons, Toby Fleming (Linda), and Curt H. Fleming (Kendra), all of Shorterville; four grandchildren, Lee McPherson, Brian Fleming (Tanya), Heather Fleming and Josh Fleming (Taylor Mock); four great-grandchildren, Bryce Brannon, Hunter Fleming, Colton Fleming and Brooks Fleming; nieces, Patty Rollins, Faye Condon and Cherie Ethridge
