Gene McDuffie, 53, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2012.

Memorial services will be held 3 pm Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Gene was born in Mobile Alabama on July 2, 1959 as the first child of (the late) Fred McDuffie and Berit McDuffie. He is a 1977 graduate of Dothan High School. Gene worked as an expert welder and construction technician for the NASA program and various other companies.

Gene is survived by his mother, Berit McDuffie; his two children, Andy and Holly McDuffie; his granddaughters, Isabella Cantara-McDuffie and Viviana Rivera-McDuffie; his sister, Debbie Dowling; and his two brothers, Mike and Stephen McDuffie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675, in the loving honor of Gene’s son Andy, who served in the U. S. Marine Corps and was wounded in service to our country.
