George A. Eyler, 68, a resident of Ashford passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at a local hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Peter Wong officiating. Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing.
Mr. Eyler was born November 1, 1947 in Martinsburg, WV and lived there most of his life. He graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1966 and joined the U.S. Air Force. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the 366th Tactical Fighter Wing at Da Nang Air Base. Following his military service, he served as a Deputy Sheriff in Martinsburg, WV prior to joining the Professional Golfer’s Tour as a Professional Golf Instructor. He was then employed with General Motors Parts and Distribution Plant in Martinsburg. George then owned and operated Sure Fire Protection Company. He moved to Ashford in 1996 and locally was employed with the Dothan Country Club, Home Oil Company, and Comfort Systems USA.
Mr. Eyler was preceded in death by his parents, Ira E. Eyler, Jr. and Anne Cornwell Ailes Eyler; his brother, Bruce Eagle Eyler.
Survivors include his wife Denise Bowen Eyler; sons, George Thomas (Amanda) Eyler and Andrew Ethan Eyler; grandchildren, Dylan Jake Eyler, Hailey Dakota Eyler, Jase Alexander Eyler, and Cameron Vincent Inlow; a brother, Ira E. “Chuck” (Barbara) Eyler; sisters-in-law, Debe Bowen and Harriet H. Eyler; brother-in-law, Thomas Albert Bowen; a special friend, Marvin VanHise; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
