Obituary: George Alton Curenton
U.S. Army (Retired) George Alton Curenton of Chancellor went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his wife, family and friends. He was 96.
Funeral services will be 11:00am on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Open Door Baptist Church with Rev. John McCrummen and Rev. Jim Duhaime officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Meadowlawn cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Enterprise directing. The body will be placed into the church 1 hour before service time. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 until 8pm.
Mr. Curenton was born September 7, 1919 in Geneva County to the late Dee Roe and Sallie Clera Grimes Curenton. He was retired from the U.S. Army. He was also an ordained minister having served several churches in California as well as Coffee County.
A daughter, Georgie Debra Curenton as well as a grandson, Richard Thomas Frazier Jr. preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Hilda Virginia Counts Curenton, Chancellor, AL, 5 daughters: Virginia Ann Frazier (Richard), Stockbridge, GA, Betty Sue Harwell, Manteca, California, Hilda Jane Hawkins (James Michael), Ione, California, Irma Lanette Rydel, California, Brenda Kay Curenton, Wicksburg, AL, 15 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
