Carrol was born February 21, 1953, to Lucille Lowe and Charles Patterson. She was a 1971 graduate of Geneva High School. Mother’s first job was at RSVP where she was a secretary. In 1980 she began her career working at Walmart as a CSM & Geneva City Schools as a Teacher’s Aide and she continued at the school for 32 years, retiring in 2012. Mother touched many lives at Mulkey Elementary School throughout the years. One special memory that stands out is her teaching a student how to read and how touched the child was to know that someone cared. We were so blessed to have her as our Mother! Giving to others was her absolute passion! Momma loved C&M Subs and she was well known for sharing them!  She often gave them to our Police & Fire Departments, local schools & many in our community.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by Grandparents Barto & Lessie Lowe, Father and Mother in law Robert & Susie Hodges, Sister in law Robina Linder and Brothers, Wilmer Martin and Louie Frank Patterson, Uncles, Clarence Holley, Barto Lowe Jr. and James Lowe and Aunts, Murlene Brown and Dazarine Lowe.

She leaves to cherish her memories; the love of her life Robert Hodges better known by her as “Baby” children Gwen Bruner, Malisa Hill, Shunda(Morris) Rivers, Carolyn Hill, Frankie Hill and Becky (Kendell) Williams , Todd Hodges, Scott(Angie) Hodges, Danny Hodges . Grands, Soliel, Joy, De’Andre(Hollie), Sha’la (Christian), Trey, Jim (Amanda), Leah, Tyler, MeMe, Bryson, Shavoz, KJ, Ben, Tony, & Jordan, and 23 great grands; siblings, Mary Patterson ,Robert (Paula) Cade, Walter(Cynthia) Cade, Mary (Dan) Johnson, Roosevelt Cade, Daniel( Melba) Cade, Rebecca Clausell, Yolanda Davis, Michael(Sandra) Cade, Earnest(Pam) Cade. Special Aunts Alice (Frank) Taylor, Gladys (John) Battle and God Mother, Catherine Swinton Walker and God Daughter Angela Duncan, a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Momma taught us, her six girls, many valuable lessons. Some that stick with us most are: “Your word is your bond”. “If you can’t help the situation, don’t intercede, keep your mouth shut” “With every Action there is a Reaction and a Consequence” and last but not least “Always put God first in everything that you do.”

The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and caregivers of Dayspring Hospice most especially Belinda, Brittney, and Ashley and a special thanks to Papa Robert, her husband of twenty-three years for all of his love and dedication to our mother.
