George Edward Lambert, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at his residence. He was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, September 25, 2017 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Tate officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 am.
Mr. Lambert was born on March 9, 1936 in Mobile, Alabama and lived the early years of his life there. He joined the US Army and served 4 tours in Vietnam and over 20 years in the Army until his retirement in 1981. Following his military career, he drove a semi-trailer truck with Lane Trucking, Wiley Sanders, AMX, and Howard Hall until his retirement. Mr. Lambert was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved riding his bike. He was a member of Memphis Baptist Church and the Faith Riders. The family would like to extend their appreciation to all of the healthcare providers that took loving care of Mr. Lambert.
Mr. Lambert was preceded in death by his sons, Terry Jo Hiers and George Randall Lambert and by his brother, Jim Lambert.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Joan Lambert; his sons, Michael Lambert, Brian Lambert, and Randy (Lori) Hiers; his daughters, Sherry (Jim) Chandler and Lynn (Kerry) Rifenburg; his daughters-in-law, Tina (David) Wilson and Christa Hiers; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Jean (Peter) Ingersoll; several nieces, nephews and many loving friends.
