George L. Meives

George L. Meives, 81, a resident of Bonifay, died Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Wiregrass Nursing Home.

Private services will be held at a later date. Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Meives was born March 11, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri where he lived the early years of his life. He was a resident of Bonifay for the past several years. He loved the water, especially the beach and also taught water classes. Mr. Meives was a member of the Auxiliary Coast Guard and enjoyed gardening and vacationing with his wife in Hawaii. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

He is predeceased by his wife, Charlotte Meives.

He is survived by two daughters, Kelly Penny (Moses) and Jennifer Meives; a granddaughter, Jordan Penny; two special companions, “Sassy” and “Chico”.
