George Oscar Poyner, 83, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his residence.
Mr. Poyner was born August 27, 1937 in McRay, Georgia to George Carl and Liza Jane Huelett Poyner and lived the early years of his life in Georgia. He later moved to Miami, Florida where he lived for several years. In 1958, he was married to Carolyn Stewart. Mr. Poyner has been a resident of Dothan for the past 45 years. He owned Bama Pest Control and also A1 Pest control for several years. He enjoyed fishing and loved his family. Mr. Poyner was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had attended the South Park congregation.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Jesse Frank Poyner; four brothers, Bill McCrimmon, Jimmy McCrimmon, Johnny McCrimmon and Henry McCrimmon.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Poyner of Dothan; four children, Carl Poyner (Beverly) of Faydette, Gregory Poyner of Dothan, David Poyner of Union Springs and Ruth Ann King of Ozark; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Davis of Miami, FL; several nieces and nephews.
