GEORGE ROBERTS HAGLER
NEWTON. . . George Roberts Hagler, a resident of Bay Street, Newton, Alabama, died Sunday night, March 25, 2012 in a Dothan hospital. He was 61.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in the Newton City Cemetery with Reverend Benji Johnson and Reverend Charles Littlefield officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:45 P.M. Wednesday in the sanctuary of the Newton Baptist Church.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Newton Baptist Church, P.O. Box 97, Newton, Alabama 36352.
Mr. Hagler was born and reared in the Salem community, near Skipperville, son of the late Ervin Hagler and Carrie V. Roberts Hagler. He was a graduate of G. W. Long High School in Skipperville. Mr. Hagler had lived in Newton since 1990 where he attended the Newton Baptist Church. He was retired, due to disability, as a truck driver from McKesson, Inc. Mr. Hagler was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Woods, and four brothers, Arthur Hagler, Lawrence Hagler, Fred Hagler, and James Hagler.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Cindie Childree Stokes Hagler, Newton; a daughter, Traci Cawley and husband Alex, Newton; three sons, Jamie Stokes and wife, Jocelyn, Echo; Allen Hagler and wife, Niki, Enterprise; and Eric Hagler, Ozark; four grandchildren, Christopher Hagler, Ethan Stokes, Cierra Hagler and Rylan Cawley; four sisters, Edna Roberts, Skipperville; Luvenia Bloodsworth, Elba; Christine Carr, Tacoma, Washington; Ruby Strickland and husband, Douglas, Enterprise; three brothers, Comer Hagler, Clio; Collie Hagler and wife, Mary Ann, Casper, Wyoming; Douglas Hagler, Jewitt, Texas; four sisters-in-law, Grace Hagler, Jean Hagler, Marilyn Hagler and Ruth Hagler; his mother-in-law, Myrtice Parish, Newton; brothers-in-law, Michael Childree, Newton; and Keenan Childree and wife, Marjean, Moundville, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
