Georgia Neal Parks Cox, 88, passed away at home Dec 24, after an extended illness.
Born Dec 10, 1929, in Scott County, VA, she graduated from Shoemaker High School in 1947, after which she worked at Eastman Kodak for several years. She braved an ocean crossing by ship in 1959, to join her military husband in Germany. After living in Columbus/Ft Benning, GA, in the mid-1960’s, she moved to Ft Rucker/Daleville/Enterprise, her home for 50 years. She retired from Federal Civil Service in 1991, and cared for her husband Charles, a Veteran of three tours in Vietnam, who suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease. A longtime member of Daleville United Methodist Church, she served family, friends, church and community for decades. Her loving, gracious spirit will be remembered by many lives she touched.
She is survived by her beloved son, Jackie Neal Cox, New Brockton; brother, Robert R. (Bob) Parks (Phyllis), Gate City, VA; daughter-in-law, Lynis Cox, Pike Road, AL, granddaughter Kim (Pat) Moates, Stateburg, SC ; grandson Aaron (Ashley) Cox, Marietta, GA and seven great grandchildren, Harris, Mason, Morgan and Marlee Moates; Connor, Reagan and Josh Cox. She is lovingly remembered by sisters-in-law Sue Peters, Wilma Cox; nephews Larry (Becky) Parks, Greg Cornett, Ted Cornett, Billy (Sharon) Cox, Jason Cox, Jimmy Cox; nieces Patty (Danny) Kestner, Sandra (Tim) Greenwell, Teresa (Bill) Culbertson, Jane (Larry) Winkle, Mary (Raymond) Rossi, Beth (Donald) Porter, Robin (Philippe) Poget, Jennifer (Mike) Hopkins, Deanna (Jason) Gray. As well she leaves behind extended family, close friends and neighbors who shared love and support.
Immediate family departed before her are her parents Charlie Nathan and Anna Clair Parks, husband Charles L. Cox, Sr, (d. 2007), son Charles L. Cox, Jr (d. 2016), brothers Bill Parks, Zane Parks and sister Margaret Cornett.
Visitation will be at Daleville United Methodist Church, Daleville, at 9:30 a.m., Dec 29; funeral service at the church at 11 a.m. with burial following at Meadowlawn Cemetery, Enterprise. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Daleville United Methodist Church. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the many friends and hospice staff for myriad acts of kindness during her illness.
