GERALD  HOUSTON  ARNOLD


DOTHAN. . .Gerald Houston Arnold, a resident of Dothan, died Sunday morning, March 22, 2015, in the Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva. He was 82.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 28, 2015, in the Highland Park United Methodist Church with Reverend Clint McBroom officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Highland Park United Methodist Church, 1619 South Park Avenue, Dothan, AL 36301.


            Mr. Arnold was born and raised in Headland, son of the late Randall Houston Arnold and Irelle Hodges Arnold. He was a 1950 graduate of Headland High School and served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War era. Mr. Arnold was retired from Hedstrom Manufacturing Corporation. A resident of Dothan since 1958, he was an active member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.  Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years,  Ruby Oates Arnold, a son, John Randall Arnold, a grandson, Nathan Lee Arnold, a sister, Susan Arnold, and two brothers, Mack Arnold and Jimmy Arnold.


            Surviving relatives include three sons, Dr. David H. Arnold (Sandra), Geneva; Reverend Danny R. Arnold (Alice), Troy; and Joe Harper Arnold (Starlett), LaGrange, GA; three sisters, Miriam Shelley (Tom), Tumbleton Community; Brenda Jones (Jerry), and Debbie Gamble (Bill), all of Headland; a brother, Emory Arnold (Wylene), Dothan; sisters-in-law, Mary Nell Arnold, Phenix City; and Martha Arnold, Dothan; Johnnie Ruth Taylor and Mauline Oates, both of the Tumbleton Community; nine grandchildren, Sara Thompson (Bryan), Ruth Tinsley (David), Noah Arnold, Peter Arnold, Benjamin Arnold, Joshua Arnold, Randall Arnold, Rebekah Arnold, and Rachel Arnold; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
