Geraldine B. Cowan of Geneva passed away at her residence on Sunday, January 7, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Moe Pujol, officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Ida Methodist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mt. Ida Congregational Methodist Church, c/o Linda Leavins, 2026 Sherwood Ln, Westville, FL 32464.


Mrs. Cowan was born in Pascagoula, MS on September 28, 1924, to the late James D. and Esto Smith Boswell.  She was a longtime member of Mt. Ida Congregational Methodist Church.  She loved going to church, and she loved to cook for her family every single day.  Mrs. Cowan worked as a hairdresser for more than sixty years, and she will be dearly missed by her family, friends and customers alike.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Cowan; daughter, Patsy Byrd; son, James Cowan; grandson, Brad King; two sisters, Lois Bradberry and Bernice Boswell; and a brother, James D. Boswell, Jr.


She is survived by two sons, Tommy Cowan (Glenda) of Geneva and Paul Cowan (Rosemary) of Crossville, TN; ten grandchildren, Phillip Byrd, Steven Byrd, Scott King, Shane Hughes, Amber Flannigan, Josh Cowan, Casey Cowan, Blake Cowan, Loren Gadacz, and Courtney Gadacz; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
