NEWTON…. Mrs. Geraldine Channell Dockery, a resident of Newton, died Sunday, April 8, 2018 at her home. She was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel with Reverend Jean Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Newton City Cemetery. Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Kindred Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
Mrs. Dockery, daughter of the late Russell Channell and Lois Lewis Channell, was native of Tuscaloosa and lived most of her lifetime in Newton. She was the oldest daughter of nine and was a devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother and devoted her life to caring for her family.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Robert W. Dockery, Newton; three daughters, Sharon Wells (Mike), Tampa, FL., Barbara (Morgan), Eufaula, and Nancy Snow (Art), Birmingham; a son, Robert G. Dockery (Leigh Ann), Pinckard; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Jenny, Russell, Tim, Sean, Nathan, and Sidney; five great-grandchildren, Abby, Asher, Morgan, William and Jessica; nine sisters, Martha Hinton, Marie Parker, Faye Creel, Eva Bolton, Loretta Fretwell, Shirley Brown, Linda Hahn, Judy May and Margie Smith; many nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Christopher, Russell, Tim, Sean, Nathan, and Rob.
The family would like to thank Fred and Marie Parker and Angie, Faye Creel, Margie Smith for the loving care and to Miriam, Shirley and Brett with Kindred Hospice for their care and love shown to Mrs. Dockery and her family.
