DOTHAN, AL… Geraldine M. Griffin, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away late Thursday night, December 9, 2021, at a Dothan hospital. She was 81.
A private Celebration of Life service for family will be held at a later date. Wright Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Our loving valentine, Geraldine McMillan Gilley Griffin was born Wednesday, February 14, 1940 to the late Junie and Josie McKinnie McMillan in Jackson County, Florida. She departed this earth Thursday, December 9, 2021. Her favorite things in life included fishing, time with her family, and reminiscing about the wonderful times she had growing up in the country with her siblings. She will be remembered for her love of preparing a great meal and her ability to whip up delectable southern dishes.
She is preceded by her husbands, Arthur Lee Gilley, father of her children, and James D. Griffin; siblings Adell Mercer, Russell McMillan, Arthur McMillan, Deana Tharp, John Wayne McMillan; and her beloved daughter Belinda Lee Dempsey.
She is survived by daughters, Jan Smitherman and Jeri McClenny; her son, Todd Gilley; her grandchildren, Sarah Smitherman, Lindsey Brown (Nick), Colby Delaney (Catherine), Ben Delaney, Caitlin Ubilla (Donoso), Tristan Gilley, Hannah Tant, Ashton Gilley; her great grandchildren who she chuckled over fondly and loved to challenge to a game; her brother, Butch McMillan (Brenda); her sister-in-law, Dorothy McMillan; a host of nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved; a dear friend Dolores Tye; and her compassionate caretaker, Sanida Bryant.
