Gladiese Wheeler Crumpler, 88, of Lawrenceville, Georgia and formerly of Enterprise, passed away on March 11, 2014, at her home.


A funeral service will be conducted at Searcy Funeral Home on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Darrell McGinnis officiating. Interment will be at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, AL with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Enterprise First United Methodist Church, 217 South Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330 or Cattle for Christ International, 4125 County Road 636, Enterprise, AL 36330.


Gladiese Crumpler was born on November 25, 1925. She was the second of three daughters born to the late Walter and Mamie Wheeler of Spring Hill, AL. On September 30, 1952, Gladiese married Lawrence Crumpler. At that time, Gladiese and Lawrence moved to Enterprise, where they shared their lives together until his death on November 15, 1984.


Mrs. Crumpler remained a long-time resident of Enterprise and member of the Enterprise First United Methodist Church until 2007. At that point, she moved to Lawrenceville, GA to reside close to family.


In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Crumpler was preceded in death by her sister, Myra Lassiter Weatherford.


She is survived by her children, Pam Crumpler of Denver, CO; Jeff Crumpler and his wife, Donna, of Lawrenceville, GA; as well as her grandchildren, Caitlin and Gabe Wells, Portland, OR; Connor McSweeny, Raleigh, NC; Erin McSweeny, Dallas TX; Sam and Britt Crumpler, Marietta, GA; Molly and Samuel Romero and great grandson, Isaac Romero, of Buford, GA. She is also survived by her sister, Leoma Wood of Cumming, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
